Claude (Anthropic)

Claude is made by Anthropic. You use your own API key, and Anthropic bills you directly for what you translate.

Get a key

1. In WordPress, go to Settings > MeloTools AI Translation and click the Claude tile.
2. Click Open key page. It opens platform.claude.com/settings/keys.
3. Sign in, create a key with a clear name (for example your site name) and copy it.
4. Set a spending limit in the console if one is offered.

Claude is pay as you go: add credit to your Anthropic account before the first run.

Add the key

1. Paste the key into API key.
2. Leave Model (optional) empty to use the default, or enter another model ID from the provider.
3. Click Save and activate, then Test connection.

The key is encrypted and saved to your user account only. See Security.

Cost and limits

You pay Anthropic per amount of text. Claude handles long pages and tricky formatting well, which makes it a good choice for important pages.

Translate one page first, then check usage in the provider console to estimate the cost of the whole site.

Remove or replace a key

Click the tile, then Remove key. If a key may have leaked, delete it in the provider's console first, then save a new one.
