Installation

Requirements and steps to install and activate MeloTools Image Optimizer.

You install this plugin like any other WordPress plugin from the WordPress.org plugin directory.

Requirements

  • WordPress 6.5 or newer (tested up to 7.1).
  • PHP 7.4 or newer.
  • Imagick or GD on your server. The settings page shows whether WebP and AVIF can be written; if one is missing, ask your host to enable Imagick or GD with that format.
  • No MeloTools account or API key.

A recent backup of your site is always a good idea before you change images.

Install the plugin

  1. In WordPress, go to Plugins, then Add New Plugin.
  2. Search for "MeloTools Image Optimizer".
  3. Select Install Now, then Activate.

You can also download the zip from the WordPress.org plugin page and upload it in Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin.

Confirm it works

Go to Media > MeloTools Optimizer. The page should load and show which formats your server supports. Then follow the quick start.
